Yes, that deserves its own headline! Back in December I made a "year in review" scrapbook. I asked Kaeli and Paige what was their favorite thing about school so that I could record it on their page. Paige's response was "nothing". I tried to get her to change her mind, but she wasn't budging. So, I wrote -nothing- in the book for her. For the last week or so I've noticed a little glimmer in her eye when it came to school. Tonight I decided to see if that little glimmer was real. Sure enough, she said yes when I asked if she likes school. I then asked what was her favorite thing about school now. After sitting there for a good minute, deep in thought, she responded with "everything!" WHEW! What a difference 2-3 months can make! Not only that, but tonight I actually caught her reading a book. She can read, but she refuses to let anyone really know that. But, tonight she didn't even hide the fact that she was reading. When she finished the page she looked up and smiled. I said "you were really reading, weren't you?" She said "yes, why do you think I spent so much time on that page?" Mom's can be so annoying sometimes, huh?
I really think this all relates to her award for the essay. Maybe that little boost of confidence was all she needed to feel like she could definitely succeed in school. I've always tried to boost her confidence, but I just don't think it's means as much coming from mom.
But, it's just great to see her enjoying school. I hope this continues. This academics stuff could be a lot more difficult with the boys. I need the girls to glide right through so that I'll have the energy I will need to get the boys through school.
WELCOME to my blog!!
It has been approximately 2 years since I regularly updated, but recently I began missing my blogging. I have gone against "the rules of blogging" by simply naming my blog "Bridget's Ramblings". It goes against the rules because you are supposed to choose one topic that you are passionate about and write about it. Well, it just so happens that I become passionate about anything that piques my interest at any given point in time. My husband once told me my hobby is finding new hobbies.....I can't deny it!! However, I will say that my kids--currently ages 11, 8, 6, and 4--will always be a major topic you can expect to read about. Beyond the kids, my current secondary interests include running and biking....gardening will most likely be the next topic to grab my attention. But, the one thing you can count on is that I will undoubtedly ramble on about whatever I find interesting.
